The Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan has appointed Sultan Al-Bazie as CEO of the Theater and Performing Arts Commission, undertaking the responsibility of developing the Saudi theater in all its artistic forms and varieties.Al-Bazie has vast experience in the theater and performing arts sector, building on his previous role as Chairman of Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts, besides his wide knowledge of all aspects related to the theater scene in the Kingdom.The Commission’s roles and responsibilities, announced by the Ministry of Culture, include setting the strategy of the theater and performing arts sector in the Kingdom, issuing licenses and permits for theatrical activities, building educational programs, granting scholarships for the talented, holding training courses and approving certification bodies in the related fields.The Theater and Performing Arts Commission is one of the new cultural commissions launched by the Ministry of Culture to oversee and manage the Saudi cultural sector in its various directions.The new commissions include Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, Fashion Commission, Film Commission, Heritage Commission, Architecture and Design Commission, Visual Arts Commission, Museums Commission, Theater and Performing Arts Commission, Libraries Commission, Music Commission, and Culinary Arts Commission.These commissions are authorized to implement their projects and achieve their goals under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture.
